About This Program
Each level is basically 32 weeks and is offered once a year beginning in the fall at a rate of $675.00 for each Level 1-4. The level 1 program includes CORE (NCCER prerequisite course for all trades) Students may complete one or more levels as desired unless enrolled in the apprenticeship program in which all four levels must be completed. Classes are taught at the MS Construction Education Foundation Training Centers located throughout the state including in-company programs – For additional information on registration and classes go to www.mcef.net and click on “Education & Training” then “Apprenticeship” or call MCEF at 601-605-2989.Level 1 course includes basic core construction skills and craft specific topics such as Plumbing Safety; Plumbing Tools; Plumbing Math; Plumbing Drawings; Plastic Copper Cast-Iron and Carbon Steel Pipe and Fittings; Stainless Steel Tubing; Fixture and Faucets; Drain Waste and Vent (DWV) Systems; Water Distribution Systems. Meets requirements of Year 1 of 4-year apprenticeship program. Level 2 course includes Plumbing Math Two; Reading Commercial Drawings; Hangers Supports Structural Penetrations and Fire Stopping; Installing and Testing DWV Piping; Installing Roof Floor and Area Drains; Types of Valves; Installing and Testing Water Supply Piping; Fixtures Valves and Faucets; Introduction to Electricity; Installing Water Heaters; Fuel Gas Systems; Servicing of Fixtures Valves and Faucets. Meets requirements of Year 2 of 4-year apprenticeship program. Level 3 course includes Applied Math; Sizing Water Supply Piping; Potable Water Supply Treatment; Backflow Prevention; Types of Venting; Sizing DWV and Storm Systems; Sewage Pumps and Sump Pumps; Corrosive Resistant Waste; Compressed Air. Meets requirements of Year 3 of 4-year apprenticeship program. Level 4 course includes Business Principles for Plumbers; Introductory Skills for the Crew Leader; Water Pressure Booster and Recirculation Systems; Indirect and Special Waste; Hydronic and Solar Heating Systems; Codes; Servicing Piping Systems Fixtures and Appliances; Well Systems; Private Waste Disposal Systems; Swimming Pools and Hot Tubs; Plumbing for Mobile Homes and Travel Trailers. All programs meet or exceed the requirements of a 4 Year apprenticeship programs and are taught by industry professionals with journeyman or master level experience in the trade.
